Same as I think about people who ring 999 to say that they've got shampoo in their eye, or they've missed the last bus home. Irresponsible thoughtless idiots.

I wonder whether his friends set him up by dialling the number for him and telling him the call was to the club.
I'm puzzled as to why the recording was publicised and released- I think it's more likely to encourage copycat calls than discourage time wasters

What struck me about the story is the extremely polite, almost refined, manner in which the police spokesman described the situation. Do the authorities really have to be that careful how they respond to people and not to offend them over there?

Stewey our police try to be friendly most of the time. I find that a good thing because when they're not, they tend to let go a little too much.
I have always had reasonable dealings with the police, even when I've been on the receiving end (mix up with car insurance, nothing to write home about).
I quite like the police overall. They're not a bad bunch face to face.
