Sorry for the long story and poor English grammar.
My brother is 45 years old and he has problems with his ability to think. Basically his thinking ability is similar to a young child of around 13 years old. Is there a way to get him to see the Dr or other specialist. My concern is that I can't make or force him to go and seek help. He thinks he is ok.
He has been sleeping rough and in debt to a bank personal loan. Which he got no means to cpay back. The loan was taken for a woman which believe is a fraudster.
He says ge doesn't know the name of the woman. He only met her in a pub. This woman cntinues to request money from my brother knowing hin does not having any money.
Anyone got any thought how to deal with this type of matter. ?
Is it worth ne going to the police abd tell them if they could anything to find this woman.
I am not sure if the police will do anything if my brother doesn't go to the police to report it.
I thought social service is only interested witv minors , my brother is 45 but got very limited ability. His mental ability stops learning when he at the age of 15.
He is currently in a very low paid job and not enough to pay for his food combined with the debt his got.
I can afford to pay his debt off but I am concerned he continues to fund the fraudster in question.
Capacity can come into consent to enter into contracts such as loans. A proper assessment would be needed though.
You could at least ask the police, until you ask them you don't know what they will or won't do. Even if no action can be taken now, at least there is a record should there be further problem or matters escalate.
