It doesn't depend on the size of the house (number of pieces of scaffolding) alone but on the length of time you have it and (especially) number of times you call them back to organise another 'lift'. One can't simply put ALL the scaffolding up for the whole house in one go.
Your contemplation of buying it alarms me - this stuff is extremely dangerous and has to be erected to standards - for the safety of those on it as well as those underneath it.

BM's right there Jasp ............. too many variables. Any good scaffold company will be glad to talk it through, and quote. It's the only way.
Just out of interest BM .......... something I see a lot more of these days........ where the complete rig CAN be put up in one go. Detached house, four elevations, and a scaffold "roof". No problems with bad weather!
The bricklayers/blocklayers/plasterers would probably all complain, ......... but they usually do anyway!!!

terence i live in s wales, my name obviously makes you think im a brummie lol its my dogs name.
bm and the builder i have put scaffolding up many times and prefer cuplock as its easy to use, 25 years in building trade myself,
i want to weigh up the costs of purchasing cuplock scaffolding to paying a scaffold firm as you say they have to come back at different stages througout the build.
what it is i wanted to have timber frame put up and put roof on this year, then build outer walls next year when i can afford it, so buy hiring scaffolding i would be paying for it twice. that is why i am considering purchasing the scaffolding, i could sell it on later.
just wanted a ball park figure to hire say for 3 weeks approx to do timber frame and roof, then next year about month to six weeks scaffold hire to do external walls.
and a rough idea of the cost to purchase enough to go around buildin 38 x 37feet and probably four lifts high.
thanks

Hey Jasper,
Hiring scaffolding or a complete range of construction equipment for that matter, is an intelligent move as you can cut down the business running costs, this is also quite popular here in Sydney. Hiring construction planks not only saves your money but also saves your company storage space. You don’t have to worry about where to store huge scaffolding planks or replacements for depreciation caused by the weather either.
You can hire complete scaffolding structures or individual parts of it such as the base, planks, tubes and guard rails. Check out the hiring rates for scaffolding in Sydney here:
