Do the 3 in 1 scart blocks for TVs available in electrical stores cause any deteriation in sound or picture quality compared to a scart going direct to the TV?
I've not noticed any discernable drop in quality on the two I use (on seperate TVs!), and one of them is 5 to 1. However, I'm not a super audio/videophile, and when watching DVDs, my sound goes direct to a seperate amp, bypassing the SCART block for Dolby Digital 5.1 sound. I would imagine that the more you are willing to pay, the better the kit (gold connections etc) and the less likely that there will be any drop in quality.
I used a 3 in 1 that cost about 10 - 15. If I left the Xbox on and tried to watch the tv I could see the xbox pictures in the background. Also had some interference with sound from the video playing when i was watching a dvd.
Most of the time, only one device is outputting to the block in my set up, but I can leave the VCR taping from the NTL box and watch a DVD (all 3 go through the SCART box at some stage) and have never had any sound or picture interference (I also have to confess that most of the SCART leads are 1.99 "Right Price" cheapo ones). However the box I use in this set up is mains-powered and auto-switches the source being output to the TV - maybe this makes a diference?
