/// But the Lib Dem leader said: "He is not going to be dropped as a Liberal Democrat candidate. He has the right - as any Muslim, non-Muslim or anyone of any faith or none in this country has - to say things even if that causes offence to other people. ///

Yer like, I wonder if Mr Clegg would have been so understanding if a non Muslim had posted the cartoon?

Interesting to note however that the Independent shied away from publishing the cartoon so that we could come to our own conclusion over it.

Also interesting that there is no mention that some Christians might also be offended over the cartoons portrayal of Jesus.

channel 4 blotted out Mohammed, but not Jesus, these people should grow some cojones

Mr Nawaz the Lib Dem chap didn't say anything offensive, that is what's so stupid. And getting upset at a cartoon, i posted a thread earlier of the Pope depicted flying, some graffiti artwork, do the Catholics get their knickers in a twist over that, probably not.
Christianity has no qualms about images of Jesus. Islam forbids images of Mohammed or Jesus whether they are cartoons or not. Can you imagine the furore if someone had worn a t-shirt with an image of Richard Dawkins in a dunce's cap and a caption suggesting that atheists were idiots.
'channel 4 blotted out Mohammed, but not Jesus, these people should grow some cojones' Probably because Christianity on a whole has already gone through its 'hardline' days 400 odd years ago whereby you'd be strung up for blasphemy or heresy. Islam still needs to get past this - its a new religion.
boold, its not a new religion its been around for a very long time, and some of it's adherent should grow up.
Channel 4 deployed "The Black Egg of Islamaphobia".

Shame on them.
Islam is about 600 years younger than Christianity so it's roughly where Christianity was in 1500, as Booldawg says.
that doesn't make it new, just a tad later.
It is a tosh up between that cartoon and anything by 'Mac' in the Mail for the world's most unfunny joke.
i happen to like Mac, and Pugh who also features in the Mail
600 years is not a tad, unless you are even older than you seem. Much has happened since 1500AD.

Don't like Mac, don't like Jesus and Mo, don't like anyone much except Matt, and Bill Tidy if he's still working. All the rest can have black eggs.
its what i said, that Islam is not new, it has been around a long while.
Sorry, I meant 'newer' rather than 'new'. All religions have a life-cycle much like we do from infancy through adolescents to old age.

Islam at 600 years younger is like a bolshy know-it-all teenager whereas Christianity seems to be like a disinterested person approaching their pensioner years that would do anything for a quiet life. Small pockets of resistance withstanding (Westboro et all)
