Housing Association, Improving My Home...

Does any one have any experience with housing associations. I have been living in my property for almost 2 years. I recently changed my kitchen cupboards with a new ikea kitchen all integrated. Before it was just your standard association kitchen, although nothing wrong with it it was unpractical and ugly. I didn't bother getting permission can I be kicked out for breaking the tenancy agreement??

How would they know about it? Even if they did it's unlikely they'd do anything.

Hi butterfly I know loads of people that have done the same.
I think if you were to leave the home then you may have to put the kitchen back to how it was, but not 100% sure.

Tenancy agreement states I have to get permission. However, I was told by my housing officer if I did do it I need permission and I would obviously have to leave the kitchen if I ever moved. So I did it and didnt bother getting permission. I know I know!

I doubt they would do anything about it butterfly, As long as you replace like for like they are not all that fussy as long as the replacements look okay. my neighbour who is a housing association tenant put a brand new kitchen in her house, as long as the place is not being trashed they are okay.

It's fine as long as it's up to their standard (which isn't high). It's just if you get permission from them first, they might pay you for it when you move out.

the downside is if you leave then you either have to leave the kitchen cupboards or replace them (assuming you want to bring the kitchen cupboards with you)

If they ever decide to refurbish all the kitchens in their properties...
