Favourite Children's Programme?

I would like to know what people think were/are the best or most memorable children's television programmes either now or when they were growing up? Just out of curiosity!

bagpuss, the chocalate biscit machine, everytime i see it now on nostalgia (sky) it takes me back to a child!!

Children's television was usually better than the adult programmes which is why I loved these: Stig of the Dump, Mr Ben, Fingerbobs, Trumpton, Will 0' the Wisp and the wonderful Clangers.

There was also a programme that I watched when my son was very small called......no, I can't remember it. The characters included Hartley Hare, a female ostrich with a French accent and something with a very strong Brummie accent.

It probably was a bit 'basic' but it was the accents I enjoyed.

I would've listed 'Take Hart', but I once sent a picture in (which was very good), and it wasn't broadcast. For this reason, I still harbour bad feelings for the show.

i also sent a picture into the gallery and thought tony hart would be amazed by my 9year old talent...at that time the show was called Hartbeat....i waited and waited...nothing. Im sure it mustve got lost in the post cos otherwise it'd be hanging in the Tate Modern by now!

Oh yeah in answer to the original question......Bagpuss, Pigeon Street, Button Moon, Playschool then later on the best were Stopitt & Tidyup and The Poddington Peas. And Greenclaws used to bore me rigid!

Dungeons and Dragons ruled! Along with She-ra, Jem and the Holligrams and occasionally Mask. Has Anyone been to 80,s nostalgia.com? It has a list of cool programs i used to watch.

I loved Button Moon. I wish they'd bring that back so my kids could watch it. Jamie and the Magic Torch was also fantastic.x

Definetely Button Moon was my fave, I've even got the ringtone (very sad!!!)

Pretty much everything mentioned by KebabMeister, plus Dangermouse and practically anything touched by the genius hands of Oliver Postgate and Peter Firmin - not just Bagpuss and The Clangers, but Noggin The Nog and Ivor The Engine too.

I have very clear recollections of Rentaghost too, although I strongly suspect it was nowhere near as good as I'd like to think it was (apart from the theme tune, which rocked).

This topic is a regular discussion point in my local. My fave was The Woofits. No one else seems to remember them and think I was using psychodelic drugs at the time. They were a bunch of dogs from Barnsley. They lived in pit villages, played in a brass band and loved football. I remeber one was called Elton and another was Gaylord. I think it was written by Parky!!! Please, does anyone else remember this?
