Got a call at 10pm to say my brother was taken ill into hospital in an ambulance with excessive sweating, pain in left arm and jaw pain. He was in and out of consciousness and went all grey looking in the face. They blue lighted him to hospital, which was then a big massive concern to all of us. I immediately got dressed and went down to hospital, he was at this time talking a little, but very emotional, but seemed to be alert.

We have a strong male history of heart disease in our family, stents, bypasses etc.

He also admitted to being sick around 7 times, self inflicted as he has been suffering from bulimia for around 20 years. He also drinks and smokes. He has been very stressed recently.

Could this have been a heart attack?

He is bit more alert now, but very tired.
Phleb, hard though it is try not to stress too much, he is in the right place. His Bulimia could be part of the cause here, hope they get him more settled very soon.
Sorry to here that phleb.
It certainly does sound like a heart attack and this will be investigated by ECG, but more importantly blood tests.
He would be stabilised and if there is any suggestion of coronary impaiment, then coronary angiograms will be performed.
Keep us informed.
phleb, I'm sorry to hear about your brother. I hope he makes a full recovery.
Fingers crossed for you today. I am sure that he is getting the very best treatment.
phleb, so sorry to hear, I am sure like Mamya says he is in the right place. Hugs to you both x
.

Remember this has happened - so our opinions dont change what occurred.

and yes you have mentioned four things which make one think "cardiac event"

but this is not the end - of course - we know that timely treatment changes outcomes......
Phleb - hope you and your brother are ok? Only just seen this thread, it does sound like a heart attack but if he was alert and talking then I'm sure it is not a major one. My husband was the same - he had one in 2005, he was grey, and clammy too and was rushed straight to a heart ward, they worked on him straight away which saved his life. Your brother is definitely in the right place in a hospital where he has no doubt been given the correct clot busting treatment. How old is he?
Forgot to say Phleb - try not to get too stressed as you have only a few weeks to go before baby arrives. But easier said than done, I know how worried you must be.
Sorry to hear that Phleb. Wishing him a full and speedy recovery x
what did the medical staff at the hospital say ?

Hey everyone. Thank u for your kind messages. He has had a heart attack and they have worked very fast with angiogram and a stent. He is feeling ok, but needs complete bedrest for 5 days in hospital. He cried today..he felt very down. He is 43. He is a gem.his wife has kept us apart for too long as she was always jealous of our lifestyle...and that we were very close. he felt it all when he saw me race to the hospital at night in my state. I had bhicks all this week was sick today, just generally feel run down.
Well you rest assured now Phleb he is well on the road to recovery, don't worry anymore and make yourself ill, I did when OH had his heart attack, I ended up worse than him! I should have trusted the brilliant docs (one of whom was Gerry McCann, Madeline's father) If he's had a stent, that will soon sort him out, you see. By the way, it's lovely to have a close relationship with your brother, I have too. :)

Ann, thank you. Yes my brother has been a father figure to me aswell. He is 10 yeas older than me, but always took care of me when i was younger if i needed anything he was always there to help. We do have our ups and downs and quarrels since i have grown up and got my own opinions, we sometimes clash, which can be pretty funny at times.

Well, he is home today, and i am really chuffed. He has tons of friends, and they just wont give him space to rest at all. He had loads of visitors in hospital, and now home is packed. We told them to let him rest, but they just don't seem to get the hint. I really do hope he recovers, and this over exertion doesn't affect him.
