sorry but i have asked this question before and need more input, the wife has absconded with the kids and negotiations ensue with regard to the amount I need to buy her out of my own house! She is adamant that all debts in my name are my responsibility but my solicitor is telling me the exact opposite to hers that all debts, regardless of name get put into the pot and then the remaining assets are split by us or the courts. Have I been given duff info by my man?

Your solicitor is correct. Everything accrued up to the date of separation is a joint responsibilty. Keep records and dates of everything. Just been there so good luck.
Yes your solicitor is correct ... however as everything goes into the pot and the remaining assets are split, in a way the debts are going to be showing on your side as a debit ... however once everything goes in the pot she will also lose from the fact that this sum is taken off. What you need to worry about is your pension as this can be quite an expensive loss ...... best thing is to get cracking on your Form E which lists all your outgoings, needs, assets and everything, and she will have to do just the same.
