Some boots can take ages to break in. Would never go hiking with new boots unless I could also take old boots as well.
Buy a pair of Brasher boots. They don't need any walking-in.
I'd agree with that^.
Zacs-Master, do you have shares in the Brasher Boot Company? :-)
Hiya, depends if the are leather like 'Brashers' or synthetic ones. The leather ones normally take a bit longer.
The best advice I've had is to wear the boots around the house a little bit each day so they start taking on your foots shape and your gait. Wear them on short trips to the shops etc, etc. Normally they will take a few weeks this way.
Another good tip if you want to continue using the new ones for walking is to wear 2 pairs of socks or to adjust the laces (loosen them) so the contact with your blisters is lessened. If they are leather, you can get some sort of oil to rub in to soften then (not sure what it is, but if you are horsey, try some saddle soap)
Other than that, I can't think what else might help, but am sure another AB'er will know :-)
If you wear two pairs of socks and rub a bit of vaseline on the spots where you've had trouble in the past you should be OK.
Sorry, Additional - as Zacs master says, Brashers can be walked in straight away - I meant the 'cheaper' leather style boots take longer

i bought a pair of forclaz 500´s, recommended by a fellow ex-pat also living in spain. they are comfy, but once you start climbing great big hills, thats when the problem arises. i vaguely remember someone telling me yonks ago to put meths on the back of your feet.
Sandy. No but Chris Brasher is a Yorkshireman I believe ;-)
You really need a good pair of socks. Min £15 spend.
Hmm.. not sure about Meths.. I know I used to use 'Surgical spirit' on blisters when I did gymnastics (hand guards), It did sting like hell, but worked a treat. You can also get 'second skin' treatment to go over the top of open blisters, again stings, but works.
This might help with blisters but better to try and avoid them
