OS is Win 8 with Win 7 Shell IE 9

Over the years on different computers I've run Trend Micro's Housecall without any problems. Needed to do it on this PC but it came up with a notice something like "cannot reach smart screen to check this site..." it had run or not so I clicked run.

Housecall downloaded the file to run and when I clicked on run notice came up "This file is from an untrusted location are you sure you want to run it?" I then looked at the details of the notification and it has...file outside your local network, files from locations you don't recognise can harm your computer....

I clicked don't run. Please can anyone tell me should I run it anyway or not touch it, I'm not sure what to do but know from experience how good this online checker can be. Thanks for your help.

Housecall and Windows Defender fight with each other. It's because the paid-for Trend Micro suite disables Defender, so Microsoft have retaliated by flagging their site as "untrusted". We don't have the option of making them stand in opposite corners of the classroom.

To run Housecall, your computer needs to download a file from Trend Micro and run it. Make absolutely sure that you are on the Trend Micro site. Then you can tell Microsoft's programs that you trust it and they can mind their own business. Paying for some proper protection software (Like Trend Micro Titanium) is a far safer option than relying on freebies.

Galeck not sure if virus or whatever, it's to do with yahoo mail messing about so thought I'd check with housecall as I've used it before. I was going to do that first then if need be download malwarebytes, but thanks for your input, it's appreciates. Yahoo is a pain in the proverbial IMO and with a friend having trouble with theirs I do wonder if I've opened their email and same has happened to me. Computers are fine aren't they IF they are left alone by scum out there who just love to s.o.d yours up!
