Is Everything Really Someone Else's Fault?

Apparently nobody killed Meredith Kercher, anyone who could possibly have been a suspect denies it so presumably it must have been some kind of freakish accident perhaps triggered off by a mini-earthquake that caused her to accidentally half undress herself, ricochet into the kitchen and back again and tragically fatally wound herself with a knife that somehow got trapped in her fingers in the process!
We live in a global culture where the overbearing influence of the legal profession who, as in the case above, see millions in income by encouraging their clients to simply deny everything alleged against them.
It goes from those at the top right down through society. Nobody seems to be prepared to say 'yes it was me' anymore.
What a horrible sick species we appear to be becoming when an honourable confession can bring such closure and comfort to the bereft relatives of victims.
Should we blame the lawyers, or once again is it always someone else's fault?

Wouldn't it be fab if Brookes and Coulson said 'Yes we knew about it, and after the acceptance of the hacked calls of Prince Charles and Di it seemed to be OK and I guess like many others we just went with it?'
Own up, and if you do time, well at least you will have some self respect surely, even if your legal team are out of pocket!.

True, but whose interests are served? Certainly those of their legal representatives who can be predicted in the illustration I put forward in my initial post, to be able to retire in wealth you and I can only dream of on the back of this single case.
I am a Lennonist by nature. I love 'Imagine'. There's a track called 'Gimme Some Truth'.

The prospect of jail may make iiars of us all. One person, Guede, is serving time for the murder, so it's not quite right to say, satiricallly, that nobody killed her. Knox had a goodish run for a reasonable doubt, so it is understandable that she would fight it; who wouldn't ? And if she, or anyone, wants to fight, it is not the lawyers' fault. Would you tell a client to plead guilty and face life in jail, if they persisted in denying the charge? You never know; they might be innocent. or not provenly guilty, and it's not the lawyer's job to act as judge and jury. You can point out the defects in the defence case put forward, and see what the client says, always remembering that some people aren't guilty but prefer a lying defence to the true one, simply because they don't think, in their ignorance, that the true one is a defence or because they think the lying one sounds better.
As asked whether we should blame the lawyers. personally I don't thinks so. In the end they are instructed by their clients and I'm sure their wise counsel is all too often ignored.
Perhaps this issue is a symptom of a deeper malaise in society where increasingly people are unwilling to take responsibility for their lives in western democracies where they can do so for the whole of their lives.
Another song for you.

I read in Nature that some people in the US have developed a full-proof lie detector using FMRI scanning.
Somehow I doubt it is the answer. if you're high enough up on the psychopathic spectrum you can fool anyone and could probably condition your brain to lie with the same part of the brain that the rest of us tell the truth with.
However it would certainly show if the crime was actually caused by a previously undiagnosed brain lesion/tumour that would be of great help to the defence!

what is it with people thinking that terrible things only happen nowadays?
have people forgotten the centuries of past history with terrible atrocities occurring daily?
every week we have someone bemoaning the state of the world today and how they despair about how terrible the world is becoming...
read a history book, do some research
we have it easy compared...

A friend of mine (who might of been making it up of course) once told me that there is graffiti on one of the great Egyptian pyramids moaning about the young people of his time and despairing of the future of the human race.
You're right we haven't changed that much, but our morbid fascination in murders is fuelled by the intensity of today's media as well as our impatience to know who'se fault it was.
The guy doing time for the killing has also been protesting his innocence. so I guess it must have been a freak accident triggered off by a mini-earthquake as I originally proposed.
What have the suspects been saying concerning what they think happened to her? I haven't heard anything about that but maybe their legal teams have advised them against any such speculation.

How about the floods? The politicians and the media are trying to politicise the disaster by blaming the cuts necessitated by the economic crisis the coalition inherited in 2010!
For myself the truth is clear with a scientific consensus probability of 95%.
Global warming and overpopulation. So who do we blame for that? Everyone else except ourselves once again?
