Whilst not arguing that there has been more than one incident involving a Duck. where does the OP suggest there has been multiple incidents.

I'm still not convinced that I would consider them sufficiently dangerous that I would refuse passage from my flood stricken home to safety......

On 30 March 2013 a duck boat of The Yellow Duckmarine in Liverpool sank in the city's Salthouse Dock during a tour. All passengers were safely transferred to a pontoon before the vehicle began to sink.[12] In June 2013 another duck boat, operated by the same company, sank in the Albert Dock as it came to the end of a tour of Liverpool. Passengers were forced to jump into the water as the vehicle rapidly took on water. Some were rescued by vessels while others swam to the side of the dock. Out of the 31 people on board, 27 were treated in hospital for minor injuries. The incident resulted in the Maritime and Coastguard Agency withdrawing all safety certificates for the craft owned by Pearlwild and their entering administration. Pearlwild are also under investigation by the North West Traffic Commissioner over the operation of the Duckmarines during 2012

I think this is all about the level of peril you are in at the time, I have often watched on the news as during a disaster people are winched up into a helicopter and thought 'Oh God, I could never do that!' but of course if my life depended on it, I would.

If there is at the time no alternative available, I would make use of whatever the rescue services provided me with, even a raft with Donald Duck at the helm.

Emmie, the incidents you recount give absolutely no indication that poor maintenance is the cause. Can you find any reports to support your assertion?

i listed three incidences in my last post, and have found lot more on the net, from USA and Canada, i read that safety officers here have criticised the level of maintenance. I only wondered why they were being used in whatever capacity, that is all.
