Why if they are contemplating another destruction do they first look into possibly rehoming the poor animal? The other giraffe in the Danish zoo could have been rehomed but they chose not to, probably due to the fact that there would be more value gained in educational purposes for children to watch the dissection and feeding of the carcass to the lions!! Hmm.

I know the arguments by some on here given in the other thread I posted but this time they are announcing what may" have to be done...so why do it if they have time to rehouse it and knowing the back lash that happened last time?

sorry dunnitall - was too angry when I read about the giraffe to look to see if there were any other threads before I started my rant.
I think it's awful dunnitall.
so this is a third giraffe thread..... I don't think the zoo mind what we think, the people watching the feeding clearly didn't.
Why can't they castrate it instead?
Probably cost too much pixie, quicker and cheaper to kill the poor thing.
It cost me £50 to have my dog done. When I asked why so much they told me that it was based on weight. I pointed out, rather graphically with the first finger and thumb of my right hand, that the bits in question were only the size of small walnuts, but I was told not to be so silly, as it was the size of the dog that counted ! Cost of the anesthetic apparently.

Boxtops...didn't know there were three, there didn't seem to be any others when I started this thread and then QW started his...that's why he apologised...these things happen.

Yes viv as you say, probably cheaper to kill the poor animal, what's the life of an animal to some people in this world, hardly much at all seeing as what goes on. I despair of the human race but there you go, it's "only an animal" as some would say...and as boxtops says, they don't care what we think and neither did those "people" huh who watched what went on!
I can't remember what it is for horses- but unlike dogs, is only a local anaesthetic.
