Don't get me wrong, the 1,000s that have had their homes flooded out have my deepest sympathy, but I was just wondering what impact it will have to the soil, as so many insects, worms, grubs etc, must have been destroyed.

This must affect not only the soil, but animals that rely on them for food, and what affect will it have on the farmers?
How long is it going to take before they can plant their crops after the floods have subsided?

I hope they are going to be helped by the Government, as they could be in serious trouble, and probably are food prices will be increased!

You are right TRT. Farmers have been forced to sell or cull their herds, and as for the wildlife it will have suffered tremendously.

It takes a long time to recover for these events.
You can rest 100% assured that food prices will rise as a result.
And when all has settled back down again, the price of food will remain the same!
Wildlife move onto dryer surfaces as their habitat flood. Look at the rare gorgeous gander visiting me
