Mysearchdial - Can't Get Rid Of It

OK, I tried firstrow for sports TV streaming, but had to reinstall it. When I did so I ended up with search engine hacker mysearchdial which is now stubbornly sitting where Google search should be (top right, alongside the address bar).

I'm using Firefox on XP.

Via Firefox add-ons I first disabled then deleted mysearchdial.
I also found it in add/remove programs and (apparently, anyway) successfully uninstalled it.
Then I ran full AV. This identified some threats (not including mysearchdial) and removed them all.
Just to finish the job I ran a full registry scan and dealt with its results.

Mysearchdial is still there! Anyone got any suggestions?

The last stage of the cleanup of Mozilla Firefox is described within these instructions: http://malwaretips.com/blogs/start-mysearchdial-removal/

I don't know how to get rid of it completely but I'm wondering whether your Firefox settings are including this as the primary search engine or at leasy an available search engine.
You may also want to delete first row sports completely as it may be lurking in there, and if you want to reinstall it see if there's an option to not select mysearchdial
Download, install and run the free version of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware:
http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free/
(NB: When installing, deselect the option to install a trial version of the PRO version).

If that doesn't work, note down all of the extensions you want to keep in Firefox (because you'll need to reinstall them later). Go to Help > Troubleshooting Information and click on 'Reset Firefox'. (Don't worry. Your bookmarks, etc won't be lost).

If that doesn't work, run System Restore to take your computer back to a date before the problem occurred.

With I could give you all Best Answer clicks! Thanks for all your help. Methyl's link offered an amazingly fast solution - installing SearchReset did the job with seconds.
I'm not sure that first row would have been the 'carrier' of Mysearchdial. My experience over four years is that first row is ok.
First row is a website and not a program which a user downloads.

As I understand it firstrow got blocked in the UK so they released an installation version which was supposed to circumvent it. As soon as I saw mysearchdial appear I was pretty sure it came from firstrow, but I only then uninstalled firstrow, not realising mysearchdial would stay behind.
Anyway, it's gone now.
anaxcrosswords - pleased to hear you removed the rogue.

It is unfortunate that you downloaded a firstrow 'alternative'. Yes, firstrow.eu has been banned

There is no need to download anything - just put firstrow.org into your browser - and currently it IS legal.
We got the horrid 'malware' when we downloaded a programme to stop the fan claiming it was running at 100°. We went through the procedure you describe above and it still appeared on the screen. It had apparently installed itself and infected every programme I run. A computer technician who happened to come to stay spent about three hours reinstalling everything without it. He is German but would probably be willing to explain his procedure. Send me your email at [email protected] and I'll put you in contact with him.
It is malware by firstrow. As suggested above http://www.firstrow.org is malware free and better option.
hello, see here and try to follow the instructions http://www.xp-vista.com/spyware-removal/mysearchdial-toolbar-removal-guide
