problem with an owner and her dog, she lets this animal off the leash, it's a pretty monstrous animal to be let roaming around, size wise somewhere between bull mastiff, rottweiler, it growls and barks at other dogs, and is a very intimidating animal. I am pretty sure the woman is not a local, and i am worried about the children in the area, as she takes this dog into the local park and doesn't put it on a lead

Had a similar problem in a park near here last year. The first point of call is the Dangerous Dogs Enforcement officer at the local council. Unless the dog actually bites someone then call the police. I was asked to keep a record of when, days and times, the man (in this case) and his dog came to the park, it meant that the council could send someone out to monitor the...

Police and R/S SPCA.

its one of the biggest dogs i have even seen, and couldn't tell you what breed it is, it frightens the hell out of me when i see it.
Thats just the sort of thing that horrifies me.
Try anything to sort that problem out emmie.

Local authority Dog Wardens
I would report it, she should have it on a lead at the very least.

It may be a big soft lump, but no dog is completely under control when off the lead. If you have any concerns, get in touch with the authorities, if only to put your mind at rest.

(Cue angry replies from dog owners!)

the dog is very aggressive, you can hear it from some distance away, the growl is one of those that curdles your blood.

she was around this morning, almost sure she isn't a local,
Too late on a Friday to contact anyone at the council I should think. It's not cruelty so the RSPCA won't come out. The police at a push I would think is your only option.
Question Author
i do have concerns because there are a lot of little children in the area, not to mention it seems a very aggressive animal.
I agree with the Dog Warden route, try to get a feel of the days and times you see it.

I was asked to keep a record of when, days and times, the man (in this case) and his dog came to the park, it meant that the council could send someone out to monitor the situation when they knew this dog would be there. The man now controls his dog and has it properly muzzled.

i have sent an e mail to the local authority and will wait on a response.

mamy, i saw the woman get on a bus with the dog, didn't have a lead on then either. I confess that i generally walk a different route when i see this woman and her dog, it's pretty scary.

So would I Emmie, hope they act on your info.
I'd ring the Police.
I dont have half as many lovely walks in the woods now because of confronting vicious looking dogs off their leads!
They have a notice up saying beware --I'm aware and stay away!

In my experience Dog Wardens do a pretty good job
Question Author
we have had a problem with drugs and dealers in the area, they use these dogs as protection, not suggesting she is a dealer, but this dog is bigger than most i have seen about, bigger that a rotty, and a head like a bull terrier.
