Due to low residuals and depreciation, Seats can be quite costly.

I test drove the Ibiza, Leon Cupra and the Altea arouind millbrook race track. The Altea was the worst. Ok cars, ok "cred". How much are you looking to spend?? because there are better and most cost effective cars out there.

well the budgets not huge, max 7k. looked at polo which was first choice but too expensive for what you get. got a corsa now and just find it boring. 206 also an option?
I've had three Seats (the three spaced mentioned) and have found them great cars. If you are going to be going round race tracks then take the advice but if you are going to be using them day to day then they are great cars.

You get a lot more for your money than you do with something like a polo.

Never had a problem with the dealers, the Leon went in a few times for work under warranty and it was always done quickly with no hassles.

If you were worried about low residuals and depreciation you would never buy a car. Buying second had you limit your impact somewhat in this respect.

very true! thanks wo wo. money is the main issue and i'd want to get as much for what i spent as i can!

when I said I the altea was the worst, I meant the 3rd best out of the 3. All good cars.

With 7k I would consider a Ford Focus 1.6 or 1.8 Zetec, may 2 or 3 yrs old. 206, in my opinion, is a bit of a girls car.

Have a look at the focus (old shape), unless you can stretch to 9k for the new shape. Polo, although a VW, is a bit boring. If you like the polo then have a look at a Skoda Fabia (very good cars) and I recommend any Skoda to anyone.
