My left water tap in bathroom sink has been running for some time now. My nephew was allegedly to have fixed it but I wasn't here and he was gone by the time I got home. One of the kitchen fitters put his finger or thumb over the tap and turned it on and it started to dribble again but now I am back to square one.

Is there anything I can do before I call him again. TIA I have tried thumb over the tap too but nothing.

There's an airlock in the pipe. The easiest way to fix it is to connect the taps together with a length of hose and turn them both on.
Jenny's correction ^^^^NOT been running

where would i get a hose - my outside one is fixed to the wall
If it's a standard pillar tap, jenny, open the tap, and put your mouth over the spout .......... blow!
......and maybe you'll get a version of Handel's water music!
Go to the hardware shop. Buy two tap connectors and the shortest length of hose they sell (unless you can spare 18 inches off the one in the garden). It will set you back about ten quid, which is money well spent if you would otherwise have to call the plumber every time it happens.
