At The End Of A T-Mobile/ee Phone Contract
7 Answers
My current phone contract ends in May, so I'm just planning early.
A month before the contract ends, I have to let T-Mobile know that I don't want to renew it - can I simply go into one of their shops with the details and tell them? Or are they going to insist that I need to phone the company to make it official?
When the contract ends, can I take the phone to a shop and leave it with them, or am I going to have to post it back to T-Mobile? I'm not bothered about keeping the phone number so they're welcome to the SIM card because I don't need it.
Can they charge for any damage that they decide has been done to the phone? I hasten to add that I haven't damaged it in any way so far (fingers crossed) so I would be disappointed if there were any additional fees.

I would put it in writing ( keep a copy ) and i would also ask what date the last payment will be taken from your account. They then should send you a letter with the details on it ( keep this safe ) I have had a few contracts over the years and the phone that has been supplied has always ended up as belonging to me. I have had a few contracts over the years and the phone that has been supplied has always ended up as belonging to me.
Also keep a check on your bank balance if you pay by DD , I have had problems in the past with them taking more payments after the contract ends. ( This was not T Mobile )

I had a mobile broadband dongle on my account which was for my grandaughter`s use,the contract ends in April,so I got onto them...I asked about stopping the renewal(dongle long since broke ,by the way),said I must write a month before...I told them I would be away,(perfectly true as I am going away shortly until end of April,)so cannot do that ,he sorted it out for methere and then So ring them and tell them you are going on hols for a long long time
No expert, but I think if you have had a phone under contact a certain length of time you will have paid back any subsidy the company paid in, so the phone remains yours.
Never had a Pay Monthly subscription but I suspect you could do either. But for peace of mind might be best to put it in writing. You know what a risk DD is when it comes to auto renewal cons.

I was told to put it in writing and so I did, I sent T-mobile a letter, then another one when I heard nothing, I then was charged another month after my contract had ended, I phoned them up and was told not to send in a letter but I must speak to them in person and they will stop the contract while you are on the phone, they had seen one of my letters on file but no action was taken, so you must phone and speak to someone. ( the phone is yours to keep )
