I was hoping to see a thread about it :-D

If it's toasted bread, what sort of bread do you like toasted?
Do you use a gas grill, an electric one or one of those pop-up toaster thingies which dry the bread out and sometimes you have to catch it?

If it isn't that sort of toast, well, cheers folks!!

WYKE Farms has teamed up with the Tiptree World Bread Awards to organise the first-ever National Toast Day.
The celebration of the breakfast staple will take place on Tuesday, February 25.
The Wyke Champflower based cheese maker is calling on residents to mark the day by tweeting them on the day at @worldbreadaward @wykefarms hashtag using the hashtag #50tastesoftoast to share their toasting preferences.
It's not made it onto here yet though

I think Kingy has nailed it, what doesn't go with toast?

(a separate thread probably!)

At least we all know it lands butter side down cos it's the wrong side which has been buttered.

Queenie, glad hand is ok, keep it out of cold water xx

Thanks for that info Balders, appreciate it.

When I heard about NTD on the radio this morning, I did wonder if the next thing might be National Loo-Roll Day
White quilted Kleenex for me !!
Toast with marmite, or a Gin and Tonic please.
Grand kids love to sit in front of chimnea in the summer toasting bread . Not long in getting through a loaf that way .
Not so hungry now - had ham & cheese with mustard & a few salad leaves in toast (straight Hovis white) - yummmmm

Minty, at least that way you know you'll only get a puppy and not a koala! :-D

Kingy, did you melt the cheese?

oooh, Wendi, can you toast marshmallows that way too?
alba - yes I did, nice extra-mature cheddar & last slice of thick-cut ham
Never tried marshmallow but bet you could if you had a long enough fork
Question Author
oooh, kingy, yer a man after me own heart, well, you were until you said last thick slice of ham :-)

Haven't toasted marshmallows for ages Wendi, dunno wot made me think of it.
My Mum used to toast bread on one side only, then butter the toasted side.
I thought for years that was how you make toast.
alba made me toast this morning. usually i toast my own home made bread and put on whatever i fancy. i could only find some cold mushy peas the other day but with marmite they were fine s a topping.

i know i should get out more and maybe even eat out occasionally. would any half-way decent chef serve that?
My sister in law does that Eddie, don't understand it myself.
Question Author
LJ, I think that's what toast if for, to put on whatever is available.

Some fancy chefs might just pinch that off you, so patent it!

Eddie, I do that when I make toasted cheese, but only when I make toasted cheese.
surely toast has to be toasted both sides? otherwiase it's like sandwich makers.

lol at alba.
Eddie, I liked my toast one sided too, used to have a very old electric toast with drop down sides so only one side was done. Also, Albs must have toast with soup!
