Microwave Oven Combi

I want to get a new microwave that will cook as an oven too but have been advised some heat from above so will not cook anything all the way through.
I was told only Panasonic make the kind I am after but what should I be looking for?

I have two Neff ovens. The smaller one is a microwave/oven/grill combined. It is absolutely fantastic. I use it most of the time, rather than my big oven. It also has a self clean option which is such a bonus. I would recommend it.
I have Neff ovens which are great, but they are all built in. If you are looking for a free standing oven. I used to own a Panasonic flatbed combi oven which had no turntable so was great for using as a standard oven. Not sure if you are mistaking the bit about heating from above as the microwave/grill rather than the full co bias I am sure that quite a few full combi microwaves will have proper heated oven/grill/microwave and are useful for using as a second traditional oven.
What I would suggest is going on some manufacturers websites and looking at all the different models which will give you a good idea.
For me the Panasonic is a good choice for a freestanding oven or if you are looking at built in,the Neff is great but not cheap at around £1200.

that's what the microwave does.

the 'heat from above' is mostly for browning.
I've got a combi oven thing - it does all sorts of combinations of cooking (sadly I don't know how to use it properly as I haven't read the instructions). Mine's a Panasonic inverter (?).

Let me explain what my colleague said
He tried to cook not microwave a flan that came out burnt on the top but cold in the middle. His mum told him some combi microwaves when using the oven option heat from the top down
I have a microwave combi (delonghi)
Perhaps I need to give it a go before splashing out on a new one
...and if you look at the Which? link I gave you....you'll know exactly why that happened...you CAN get microwaves with grill only or with convection too.

We've got a De Longhi combination oven - have a look at that one, too - weve very pleased with it. You have to cook differently in a combi oven with the heating at the top, but it does cook through.
I don't see why the position of the source of heat makes much odds. One tends to want the crust at the top well browned, but heat will circulate and cook from all edges anyway. I have a Panasonic. Went bang once just before the warranty ended so I got it repaired under warranty. Think it's less powerful now, but it's ok.
It sounds like your friend needs to work out the correct temperature and time for the flan they were cooking. Reads like they cooked it at too high a heat setting for too short a time.
I've found sometimes (e.g. baking) that the top cooks first while the base is underdone. I was advised (on here) to cover the top with baking parchment after a while, to give the base time to cook through whilst protecting the top.
Sher, why don't you read the manuals? you've mentioned this before....
We have a panasonic and it is great.
