Failure To Configure Updates.

My laptop, Windows 8, says it will be updating in 2 days. It goes through the rigmarole then says,

Failure to configure Windows updates. Reverting changes. Do not switch off

It then spends ages starting up again.

I've done a System restore with no success.

Has anyone got any ideas? I know there are some wonderful people out there.
