I am looking for ideas for a gift for my friend who has just had a C-Section and a really bad time of it. Can you suggest something I can buy that will help her whilst she's recovering?
I think the offer to do stuff - washing, ironing, cleaning, cooking, shopping, etc would be very much appreciated. I would have loved to have had someone do anything for me after I had a c-section (and had a 7 year old, 4 year old, 2 year old and new born twins to look after).
I would agree with sherrardk. Just go round and help her. Make the tea, do a bit of ironing & shopping. Take something for her dinner. Maybe you could buy her some flowers, or something pampering such as a new nail varnish. I think the offer of help would be more appreciated though.
If she is bottle feeding you could send some cartons of ready made milk, or a hamper of pampering stuff to make her feel nice about herself, pay for a laundry service to do her washing/ironing for a while, a hamper of her favourite foodie treats, some alcohol to look forward to for when she is feeling better.
Thinking about it, I bet a visit (however brief) would probably boost her spirits no end - everyone loves showing off their new baby and who doesn't like seeing friends that they don't see very often?
poor thing, the food delivery is a great idea, but in it I would include all the things she has been unable to eat during pregnancy, including a bottle of wine.
agree with sherrardk having had 2 c sections the biggest help was a visit and some help with chores. If she already has children perhaps an offer to take them out for the day so she can spend some time with baby by herself.
a food delivery or hamper with baby things in would be brilliant too if you cant get there :-)
