Selling my car which has associated finance. Can afford to pay the difference and finance company insist on the money within 7 days. Can I ask buyer to make cheque payable/pay direct to account of finance company?

You can, but obviously you'll have to take the outstanding amount from the value of the car. Agree terms with the buyer and get a signed contract.
and make sure you get the finance company to send you a fax or letter showing that there is no interest in the vehicle. I wouldnt but this car from you unless I had that document.
