FIFA has lifted the ban on women footballers wearing the hijab. Islam says it's a great day for womens rights and will continue their fight for justice and equality. No more stoning to death when they lose a match.

says it all

The move came after a campaign in favour of the hijab from FIFA vice-president and executive committee member Prince Ali Bin Al-Hussein of Jordan.
Blimey, before you know it they'll inexplicably be holding the World Cup in a Muslim country.........

Oh wait......
can anyone understand any woman wanting to play any sport wearing that, must be incredibly hot running around with that clobber on
still if it's what Prince Ali Bin Al-Hussein of Jordan wants, who is to deny him

i watched a series of programmes about Australia, very interesting, one segment had a group of women, who i believe originally came from the Lebanon, or possibly Libya, who were into sport, football in particular, but insisted on playing in full regalia, same as the women featured, in the sweltering heat, one said they had come in for comments about their dress, i was left wondering why go to any country, be it British abroad, and behave, dress, and live just as you would in back home, i have never understood that. British always come in for a shellacking over their Little Englander mentality, but i find this just as bizarre.
this story predates the London Olympics. Its news............ how??

I believe this new ruling applies to men as well as women. From June we're likely to see footballers playing with head coverings. The idea is so that Sikhs etc can wear turbans whilst playing which, at the moment, they can't.
