How To Answer The Phone

I have a phone situated in the hallway and one in the bedroom Bell rings "A" downstairs picks up the phone but it's for "B" whose upstairs."A" calls to "B" and she picks up the phone and then "A" puts hers down but it always cuts off the connection .What am I doing wrong??? Thanks.

Nothing. It sounds like the telephone upstairs isn't making the right connection. The line should stay up (for fixed line callers anyway) until the caller ends the call. Try replacing the upstairs one with a different handset.

If you can find your user handbook you will find that to transfer a call from one handset to another requires you to actually send the call from handset ''A'' to ''B'' by clicking on ''internal''.

well, I never knew that, WR - I've just look at my handset and we do indeed have an INT button. Thank you!

This is probably a daft question but your upstairs handset is actually plugged into a telephone wall socket rather than just a remote handset? If it is't then it's bound to cut out when the the downstairs one is put down.

Prudie, only the master 'phone has to be plugged into a 'phone socket every other one is plugged into a 13amp socket to keep the internal batteries topped up. ( they connect to each other by wireless)

My phones aren't and don't work like that, they both need sockets. They are not that old and I can't be alone.

Mine are like ron's - the main one in the living room is in the phone socket, the other two are just plugged into the mains.

That is probably only true if you are using some sort of base station, Ron. Normal independent phones plugged into BT sockets don't have that issue, as long as the caller holds on paying for the call the receiving end can pick up and put down as they wish.

O-G, mine has a base station, yes, then two satellites.
