Help With Skype

I know this should be in Technology, but a similar question has been sitting there unanswered, so I thought I'd try here.

I have had to re-install Skype, but it doesn't offer me a chance to find contacts, or to sign in when I start my computer, which it used to do before.

My wife is away, and I want to be sure I can keep in touch with her.

Can anyone help me get my Skype page looking how it did before - showing contacts, and being able to sign in when I switch on my PC?

(The questioner was a Mac user there but it would seem likely that the Skype interface is the same in Windows anyway)
