Given the seemingly endless litany of revelations about corruption/incompetence/racism/homophobia et bloody cetera, is it time that we just said 'enough is enough' and abolished the Metropolitan Police?

Sack everyone of Chief Inspector rank or above (with no pension - they knew what was going on and condoned it) and offer all other officers a choice of being busted to PC rank and staying in London, or transferring to a less corrupt force in the sticks.

Then move in a clean command structure from a Police Force with (as much as any have) a clean record - probably from a Northern rural county - and start again.

It just couldn't be any worse than it is now ...

I love you too shoota lad when you're not pointing your gun at the dog's arse :-)
not all are corrupt, and many coppers travel in from outside the capital.
The majority of them do a very good, but dangerous and difficult job on a daily basis, and can never do right for doing wrong.

But their are some who would wish to see no police force at all so they can go about their ways unhindered, that is of course until they are desperately in need of police protection themselves.
well Yeah AOG but you wouldnt want the lot that "investigated" Stephen Lawrence's murder to investigate your family should your grandson be tragically killed (God forbid etc) ..... or would you ?
AOG...I think you managed to miss just about every point Dave made..... that's not good for what should be a sensible debate...

Peter.....on that we do agree....x
There is nothing wrong with a bit of healthy diagreement Gness

I like it better when a Troll wanders in, holding a body part or whatever it is that they do to get themselves going ......
Quite like a disagreement too, PP....but wrong end of the stick is frustrating...

The met has produced some truly erudite, witty and outstandingly handsome retirees who are of real benefit to society as a whole and online forums, in particular Alpha Bravo.
as far as I can see the Ellison report doesnt say it all,
and so various people have been leaking the unverified omitted Good Bits.

so in terms of corruption, there is more to be reported.

Will Lord Condon hold up his hands, and say 'I'm stuffed' ?
