does cider have to made from apples or at least have some apple in it ??


i had an orange and ginger one yesterday - with no mention of an apple on the ingredients !

you can get cider made from pears. the real name is perry but i do see it just sold as pear cider.

I'd have thought the orange and ginger were added to the original apple cider.

Wikipedia says "Cider or cyder is a fermented alcoholic beverage made from any fruit juice"...unless specified by law, that is. E.G.. "Cider is defined in the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code and "means the fruit wine prepared from the juice or must of apples and no more than 25% of the juice or must of pears"
