About 5 mins ago I received a phone call from a female, with a foreign accent telling me that she was from Microsoft, and they had noticed that my computer was running slow.I may not be the brightest bulb in the chandelier, but knew this was not so because , last night I switched off my machine prior to moving it to another room later today.Brenda.

Hang up, don't give them any information, or even better - say you do not own a computer - this way they will not know there is one in your home.

I heard somewhere of a person who upon receiving such a call would respond by saying something along the lines of...." Oh yes. I have been in contact with Microsoft and have been awaiting a call from a Technician. Microsoft has given me a code number and advised me to request it from whomsoever calls on the matter to ensure that the call is genuine."
