In a previous post regarding my non-wireless desktop PC,I was advised to buy an Ethernet Network Adapter*,which I did.
I have just had my top box .tv etc.relocated to the other side of my lounge, the Virgin technician set up the * and it works great...but...my son says it slows down his games...now ideally the little boxes should be plugged into a wall socket which I do not have at both ends, but was told buy the shop that it will be ok with an extension as long as it is not surge protected but the extension is sharing with mains plug of PC,printer etc.Could this perhaps be what is slowing his games down?Would I be best to take another extension from another wall plug and have just the * plugged in it??
I find everything works fine although have not yet tried any games

What ethernet network adapter did you buy? They come in different speeds eg 200mbs and 500mbs. You'll want the fastest you get get for games.
I also have an older PC, that is not Wifi-equipped. I bought one of these :::

It works a treat. I still get about 35 mega pixies, from the router downstairs. It couldn't have been easier to set up and look at the price !
