EBAY state if stolen items are sold on their site they recommend that anyone with this knowledge should contact their law enforcement force. Is this not a complete cop out of EBAY's responsilibily to their customers.
You do not go into a department store and expect to get stolen goods for your money. So, what is different with an online store.

Yep, it's disgraceful ... I had a similar problem with Gumtree (South Africa), they couldn't care less, only want to generate income! It's enough to want you to seek out where the seller lives and go around there with a couple of mates and a baseball bat ...
presumably Ebay do not know if the goods advertised for sale on their site are stolen or not.

Also, if I had a load of stolen goods for sale, I wouldn't be advertising cheap goods on Ebay.

It's my understanding that 'the law' is taking it's own sweet time in catching up to this new thingy called the internet.

you don't go in a department store to buy second hand good either which you (mostly) do with Ebay.
And how is eBay supposed to monitor the millions of items they have on sale.
Just put something simple in the search box,and see how many items you get. I just put in women's shoes....and got over 2 million.
porkchop, eBay's customer is the seller, not the buyer. eBay makes no money from buyers.

As already stated, there are trillions of listings on eBay and to monitor each one is impossible. If you buy stolen or fake goods on eBay you should report it to both eBay and the relevant authority.

Ebay has more in common with a car boot sale than a department store. If stolen/fake goods are sold in a car boot sale it is the sellers that get prosecuted not the organisers of the car boot sale.
