Have an old bathroom basin outside the back door and I'd like to have two or three herbs in it that I can get to easily rather than tramping into the garden.
I don't mind which they are but need advice on which will be happy together and that I don't over soak them, or dry them out.
Thanks.

Don't put mint in the same container, unless you can somehow contain the roots - it'll take over.
What herbs do you like using ? Chives, corriander, mint, basil, parsley and thyme are all top faves of mine.

Most herbs come from the hot mediteranean countries and therefore like hot, dry, well drained conditions with plenty of sun. Most are small, annual herbs that need continual sowing (parsley, basil, corriander, chives) whereas herbs such as mint are quite invasive. Rosemary is a shrub that can get to 5 foot tall....although it never gets the chance in my garden as i use so much of it !!!!!
Basil is best indoors on a windowsill, as it too often gets aphids. Chives, sage and maybe apple-mint which is not as rampant as ordinary mint, and tastes nicer.
Don't grow Cicely - it looks awfully pretty but it goes crazy, and it's not really very useful.
