Converting AVI to VCD or SVCD

I have a 25 minute AVI movie that I would like to convert to VCD or SVCD which I would then like to play on my DVD player.Please,can any give me simple instructions on how to do this,and recommend a program that is easy to use.I have looked on www.downloads.com,but there are so many program's,and many of them have 1 minute limitations.
