Hi if I copy a URL by highlighting it then copying & pasting it, the pasted URL appears just as standard text, which you cannot click on to go directly to the URL.

I have seen links in posts where the copied URL is highilghted & underlined & you can click directly onto this link to bring up the web page - how do I copy and paste a URL this way?

I simply did as you described.
You do exactly what you are doing, highlight copy and paste. If you are trying to post a link on here, don't put it in the Enter You Tube Link Here.

Try copying a url as an answer to this post and see if it works.
Before you submit your post, make sure there are no gaps in the text. If there are, the link won't copy properly (Sometimes the space can be at the end of the link).

it also doesn't work until you have pressed submit. You can't test the link before you submit your post

This is an example:
http://www.manutd.com/en/Club/Trophy-Room.aspx

No automatic link, Methyl - not sure what you mean

Oops it has worked.
There you go. Sorted.

Gents, thanks for replies, BUT if I copy & paste the MANU link into a reply box on advfn, then the link reverts back to plain text which yu cannot click on.
I can't help you with that, sorry.
Branca, most of us are female by the way.
Well, this is a bit late but here's an explanation anyway:

The Answerbank's server recognises hyperlinks when it sees the 'http' (or https) bit at the beginning of them. If you only copy the shortened URL (starting with 'www' and thus omitting the 'http' bit) you won't create a hyperlink.

Thus
http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk
works but
www.theanswerbank.co.uk
doesn't.

Highlighting a URL by dragging your cursor over it sometimes only copies the end bit (omitting the important 'http') whereas simply RIGHT-clicking on it, to highlight it, and the selecting 'Copy' should always work.

Gents my fault - when I have copied & pasted the URL & then inserted that into document, the URL does indeed just look like plain text & you cannot use it directly - HOWEVER when I send the doc & THEN view the sent doc the link is now as you say.

Thanks everybody
branca

Some websites will not allow clickable links.
