I`ve been reading part of `A History of the County of Lancaster: Volume 8` pages 304-319 (The Parish of Dalton) from:
http://www.british-history.ac.uk/report.aspx?compid=53321#fn
The reference for footnote 49 is quoted as being from Pat. 5 Jas. I, pt. xix and Pat. 6 Jas. I, pt. ii. Does anyone have any idea what material these refer to?
Thanks.
The Patent Rolls are a series of administrative records compiled in the English Chancery and form a register of the letters patent issued by the Crown, such as for the grant of land to a person by the King. e.g. Patent Roll 6 (in the reign of) James I, part ii.
