8. Redcurrant = german for red is "rot" + "current"

It's a bit slow starting, but I guarantee - you'll have a full house by the end of the day!

Definitley homophone time!

16 is Parsnips

Father's=Pa's

Rutabaga is the US name for swede which north of the the border is Neep

Pa's Neeps

17. Maypole?

6 is Radish

For 18, how about cellary (celery)? However, I'm lost for the link with Alaska.

7 is Bog Moss (?).

Certainly, the "Kate Moss" bit is sound - and "bog moss" is sometimes known as "peat moss"; but the clue could have been tighter.

For 18 (and picking up on NILYA's answer) I suggest the vegetable CELERIAC = CELLAR-Y + AK (Alaska)

Now they are getting contrived!

13 Poppy (POP! + pea)

For Q12, what does the Italian word toto mean literally? All or whole or what?
