Road Ahead Closed
17 Answers
sign in the road behind me, diversion signs abundant, why on earth do drivers not follow the diversion sign but feel the need to zoom along the road and screech to a halt, then only to find they need to turn round, as the road, er, well, was closed?
Don't think I'd fancy being a passenger of a driver who can't read the sign :-D

It does get confusing when two seperate places are closed , so you have two sets of diversions ("which do I follow?"), but my most often asked question, normally after a car has followed me for the last 3 miles, past 4 or 5 'RAC' signs and we get to the closure with the Road Closed sign (where I put on my flashing lights and go through). I often wait for the guy behind to get out of the car and come up to me with the inevitable question "can I get through here?". I reply "what does the sign say?". He says "road closed". I say " which of those two words have you got a problem with?". It never ceases to amaze me how often people will drive 4 or 5 miles past loads of pre warning signs and are really annoyed to find the road really is closed!
There is a road closed at the moment near where I live. I found someone coming towards me the wrong way down a one way street clearly marked no entry when they had reached that point. I stopped him and said this is a one way street. He didnt say much so I told him he must turn round and go back. How are people able to completely ignore very large no entry signs????
