Tightening boot catch on a Ford Focus...
without having to go out and buy a Hanyes manual or book my vehicle in, does anyone know who to slightly tighten the catch for the boot on my 2003 Ford Focus Zetec??? It shuts fine, but when driving the boot has around 1mm play, and therefore causes a slight knocking sound when going over bumps. AGain boot is ok, shuts and open fine. But there is a slight bit of play, causing the knocking sound. Anyone know how to tighten it???

The screws are covered by a plastic trim panel, on my 4dr saloon, there are 2 small covers that are removable, using a small screwdriver. Are you sure its the boot knocking? I thought mine was, but it turned out to be the n/s/r damper knocking, changed under warranty. Car was 6 mths old, 2000 miles!
The only thing you could try is to alter the boot/tailgate flange, pull off the seal,@ the lower edge and slightly bend the flange up to reduce the gap between vehicle body and tailgate/boot lid. I would of thought that the boot/tailgate seal, would not have compressed yet on a vehicle this age. Yes, I was refering to the catch on the body, not the latch on the lid/tailgate
