One of the finest wines that I have ever had was an Oz one, Bin 64 from Adelaide - a Shiraz Cab and, honestly, you would have thought that you had a superb Bordeaux in front of you, and I am not a Shiraz fan..........pure brilliance.

I am 'into' Margaret River wines, esp their semillon-sauv blanc blends, the sharpness of the sauv blanc countered by the mango/peach notes of the semillon....get them nicely chilled and wow. (See Majestic Wine and what they have)/
If you're ever in central London, DTC, treat yourself to a bottle of wine at the oldest wine bar in the city:

It won't matter what you choose, they're ALL lovely! When I was there I started with a half bottle of Chardonnay but then I got drinking with their (off-duty) chef, who seemed to get all his wine (including the stuff he gave me) for free! He introduced me to their white Rioja. It's superb!!!
Been there many times, Chris, - I worked around the corner in Adams Street for a year plus and also a Fellow of the Royal Soc of Arzholes, even closer to the Gordon's winebar. Never got free bottles though, even a white Rioja and, yes, there are some good ones out there. "It's not what you know but who you know."

Was on a nice red one last night.
I always use Twinning's Lapsang Souchong myself, although their Darjeeling makes a very pleasant change.
