Ground Prix Noise .............
11 Answers
Hubby is annoyed! His enjoyment of the Grand Prix is spoilt by the lack of usual powerful noise coming from the cars - just not the same he says since they introduced "all this green rubbish!"

It's called progress. And if the technology follows through to road cars to make them more efficient and less expensive to run, then that's a massive positive. As for the noise or lack of it, I don't have a problem. What's important is good exciting racing. The lack of noise will also help spectators at places like Abu Dhabi, where the noise from the old loud engines used to bounce off all the concrete and it was deafening.
I've seen some F3 cars and was lucky enough to see Jensen Button driving and F1 car (and very up close, he is a lovely man!) and that was amazing but so loud and that was very limited - nothing like a full on F1 with all the training, qualifying and actual race, it must get deafening. I know they wear ear protection but there must be some effect being around so much noise for long periods.
