I am quite happy with that diagnosis.
Oh dear, that could be me. When in business we used to receive written correspondence from a senior member of the Construction Department of a major Brewer. When I saw the postmark I would rush for my red pen, because I knew his grammar, spelling, sentence construction, etc were awful, and joyously correct his letter. Oh the satisfaction. Still do things like that but never in front of anybody.
'Have a pop at' is that the Queen's English?
LOL - What's that? :-))

I'm sure HMQ uses the expression "to have a pop at one"

Today I visited my mum's grave. I sat on a bench in the sun to have a ciggy and noticed the most beautiful headstone in front of me . Question Author
Sexual thoughts ?

Question Author
Oh, yeah.

Disgraceful.
Seriously JJ. Use pencil in case I am wrong and do not want to permanently deface a book however flawed it is.
Question Author
It would be funny if you corrected it, and you were wrong.

I don't suppose you are ever wrong, though.

Maybe you should use Post It notes?
What's cleaning?
my daughter recognizes that in herself - although she calls herself a "Grammar Ninja".

she also recognizes the compulsion, but prefers to call it "CDO" as she wants it to be in alphabetical order.
