Windows shutdown problems with NTL broadband

A friend of mine running Windows 98SE has found that his PC hangs in the Windows shutdown phase ever since installing NTL broadband on his PC whilst another friend who has NTL broadband has no problems any ideas?

There was a few problems with NTL broadband a couple of days ago - about 10 days ago when the whole system went down - which could have caused these problems, i would get your friend to reinstall the software and see what happens and if not contact the NTL customer service helpline and get them to help him or her out. i had a similar problem with my adsl connection with freeserve and their help line had to talk me through a very long and difficult procedure to make it work again - NTL have probably come across the problem before so should be able to help.
I have had this problem on many systems after installing programs under win98 if you look up th Microsoft Knowledge base they have a patch to fix this it works 99% of the time
