Well reading between the lines, the charge nurse who accused him of assault said that she only spoke to him in the pub and he then followed her home and when his attentions were rejected he attacked her in the hallway of her home. It was mentioned that as a locum he treated the victim and presumably became attracted to her but again when he came upon her by the river and his attentions were spurned he attacked her. Details given about violence towards his wife bears out his violent nature presumably principally against women, and that he reacted violently to rejection. My thoughts, but has been said, I found the lack of a proper explanation frustrating.
