Im on windows 8 and keep getting unwanted adverts, how can get them stopped from coming on

In what way unwanted ? On websites ? In pop-up windows ?

Try running Malwarebytes to see if you have an infection. Then see if the problem is still there.

It sounds like the usual malware problem, which gets reported here almost daily. Download, install & run the free version of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware:

Notes:
1. When installing, take care to deselect the option to take a free trial of the (paid-for) 'PRO' version.

2. When running it, use the 'quick scan' option.

3. Don't be surprised if that scan still takes over half an hour to run.

4. When the scan comes to an end, click the button to show the results. Ensure that there's a tick against everything listed and then click the button to remove what's been found.
