Hi, Millie.....you sound as if you find it hard to sit and watch others work.. difficult I know if you are used to doing things for yourself. Do explain that health problems mean you need help now and then do you have something you can do while keeping out of the way?.....Knitting... letter writing....the dreaded accounts? That might make you feel less...
There is no way she (or he) will think you are lazy - why don't you just tell her when she's there? Presumably you are going to interview the person before you take her on? - have the discussion then!
Read out the crossword to him/ her if you get stuck :-) It'll help both of your time pass quicker whilst they are cleaning.
Don't be worried about what to do, they are there to do a job and are probably used to both sides if the coin (employers that don't want to acknowledge them at all, and employers that love following them round for a good natter). You'll pick up vibes as to how your cleaner likes to work best.

That might make you feel less uncomfortable....and enjoy having a cleaner!
Yes, I think I will explain why I cant do it myself, I am reluctant to do it anyway as I have always run my house fairly efficiently but have finally given in.
Boxtops - I was thinking of just approaching cleaning Companys as, like yourself, have never had one before so have no way of going about it otherwise.
I know how you feel. Offer her a cup of tea, ask how she is, if she wants to chat, then chat with her while she's in the same room, otherwise get on with something else. Computer stuff or letter writing or whatever.
Thanks for all your replies, it's just that Gness has summed me up perfectly, I do,find it difficult to sit and watch others work when I am so used to doing it myself. I will have to learn.
