Lump In Breast
15 Answers
Ok Guys need help from someone. Iv found a lump in my right breast let me describe the lump it's about 3cm it's not sore to touch it's quite a hard lump and it's NOT fixed it's quite mobile. Aswell as that I have pain in my chest bone and pain in the middle of my rib cage it's strange because it actually feels like my bones are sore. So I plucked the courage to go see my DR she then noticed quite a few other wee lumps all around the original one and she has ruled out cists and Blocked milk ducts. But she didn't know what it could be so has sent me to the hospital for scans.. Ok the thing is I freak out and im very likely to not go to the hospital as I just think I'd rather not know if it turned out to be something serious. As anyone on here ever had the same symptoms and could tell me what this might be thanks in advance

sam - have you got someone who could drive you to the hospital, and make sure that you go? There is absolutely no point in trying to self- diagnose, you need that scan - as others say, it may not be cancer (there, I've said that word), it could be other conditions not difficult to treat. You were courageous enough to see the GP - well done - now go that next step, don't...

You won't know (maybe until too late) unless you go. If you wimp out you may have to deal in the future with knowing you could have got it cured but it is now too late, if only .... It is probably not something to be worried of but you need to take a deep breath and force yourself to go find out. You know it makes sense.
I've had a number of scares over the years, two of which resulted in being sent to hospital for an ultrasound and biopsy, one of which was on an urgent referral, all simple fibroadenomas (if that is the plural?).
I've also had mastitis and multiple breast abscesses, all sorted with antibiotics.
I think things like hormonal changes can contribute sometimes, have you been pregnant recently or anything like that?
Most of the time it's nothing serious but if it is then what do you gain by not knowing, save potentially greater (and far more serious) problems down the line than you would face if you take action now, a possibly worse prognosis, less treatment options which could be less favourable. You are obviously worried enough to post on here so are you going to rest easy until you know?

You were courageous enough to see the GP - well done - now go that next step, don't waste the scan appointment. You are not alone, hundreds of women have been scanned each week, so please go for the scan. If there is anything unusual, you can be treated - if you don't go and it turns out to be serious, you'll not be helping anyone by not going at this early stage. Let us know how you get on.

Look Im a man and I am terrified of hospitals and I know its not the same but I was having bleeding when passing stools and I was terrified it was bowel cancer my GP wanted me to have a colonoscopy but I kept on avoioding it but I eventually told my GP how anxious I was of hospitals and procedures and I was given a premed and a letter was written to the department explaining how anxious I was and everyone was so nice I had the procedure quite sedated remember nothing of it and I was told I had a polyp that was benign that was bleeding. It was removed and polyps being removed actually prevent cancer. So please tell the GP how anxious you are and they will let people know at the hospital and it will be easier for you and this lump might be benign and nothing to worry about lets hope it is
