I have a nokia 920 lumia, which stopped recognising my sim card, it all worked except for the sim recognition, i spoke to someone who said it was a sim tray fault, not something i could do myself. So I ventured to town, and enquired at several places which advertised phone unlocking services and phone repairs.. to get a price.
This one establishment, quoted £40 and to be ready on Thursday last week, I said I couldn't collect as I was working but my son would, I got a receipt and I went away happy.
Thursday, my son went in it wasn't ready and to come back Friday or to ring before.. which he did and the man said to come and get the phone, as the part would take 3 weeks to come. My son never checked the phone he's 14 and didn't think too.
I finally got round to checking it on Good friday, and the bottom is damaged slightly and the phone won't even turn on, it won't charge, but before it would just not recognise the sim card. I'm thinking they couldn't fix and wanted rid, what do you think?
What can I do what rights do I have? Can I get them to fix it? What can I do?
Wow, best of luck from someone who has no legal experience. Proving stuff might be a problem. I suspect your best bet is to go down and tell them the situation in the hope that their reputation is worth more than the repair.
Stupid question, and don't shout at me, you are sure your son did not drop it on the way home ?
And going back a bit, you did try cleaning the card contacts before putting the handset in for repair ?
It was in the box, and all secure so he didn't drop it, but fair point... I think I'll have to go and speak to them, I was hoping to see if I had a legal right.
