I know that cats are supposed to be intelligent animals but there seems to be a problem with their ability to get back down a tree.

It seems that the Russians have devised a foolproof method of getting them down. Whilst it is a quick method I am yet to be convinced that it is a good method - someone small and furry may get injured.

Disgusting and cruel. :(
That was horrendous

The poor creature had one hell of a fall. Water might be safe if it is only a few feet up but at this height it could have been killed.

.
this one went a few more feet higher up then came down to the ground

no mine have all gone, the tree is sticking over next doors garden and they put bird food out all the year round, the cat is a regular visitor to our gardens at the back of the houses

That is a classic example of where NOT to site your feeders. Self Service for the cat.
That is dreadful, typical of the russians
That's both disgusting and uncaring.
That was awful!

I know the cat ran off, but surely it was injured from that fall? The poor thing :-(
That's awful. The cat would be terrified as well as potentially injured falling from that height. However - cats are remarkably resilient, and it did run off. One can but hope for it.
Maybe all cats should be cross-bred with the Norwegian Forest Cat. They have an amazing ability to climb down trees, head first.
Wouldn't happen here, thank God.
